Kauman International Super Camp Hosts Sheikh from Syria

PADANG PANJANG -– To welcome new students for the 2024/2025 academic year, the Pesantren Kauman Muhammadiyah (Kauman Muhammadiyah Boarding School) in Padang Panjang is holding the Kauman International Super Camp (KISC) II.

Director Dr. Derliana stated that this time they have invited a Sheikh from Syria, an expert Arabic language motivator, and a coding practitioner from Jakarta.

“Alhamdulillah, for this KISC, we have invited Sheikh Muhammad bin Ahmad Al-Khatib As-Syamsi Az-Zubsidy from Syria. He is also a lecturer at LIPIA Jakarta,” said Dr. Derliana on Monday (July 1) at the Kauman Boarding School Complex during the opening ceremony.

She mentioned that the KISC II event will run until July 13, involving new and current students with special programs. Together with the Sheikh, the students will delve into Arabic language proficiency and Islamic education (dirasah islamiyah).

In addition to the Sheikh, the activities will also be guided by an expert in Arabic language learning from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Ustadz Daud Lintang, MA, and accompanied by the teachers of the Pesantren Kauman.

Meanwhile, students interested in acquiring special skills in computer programming will be mentored by the Coding Muhammadiyah Jakarta team, including Mas Fano and Mas Agung, for the next 13 days.

Dr. Derliana emphasized that the KISC II activities include Introduction to Boarding School Life and its Rules, Quranic and Arabic Language Courses, CodingMu Computer Programming, and New Student Matriculation.

Musriadi Musanif, Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) Padang Panjang Batipuh X Koto (Pabasko), in his speech at the official opening of the event, stated that the leadership continues to encourage all business charities to improve management and make significant progress, thus becoming excellent business charities.

“What the Pesantren Kauman is doing is the best leap to achieve the target of developing business charities. Leaping higher for the progressive and godly Muhammadiyah generation,” he said.

The Kauman students are Muhammadiyah cadres. In their hands lies the future development of Muhammadiyah. If the alumni of the Pesantren Kauman in the past could develop Muhammadiyah to Sulawesi and some neighboring countries, the current students are expected to pioneer the development of Muhammadiyah internationally.

He added that students must innovate and continue to fuel their enthusiasm so that what is expected by the director, parents, and Muhammadiyah leaders can be realized in the future.

Musriadi specifically thanked Sheikh, Ustadz Daud, and the CodingMu Jakarta team on behalf of Muhammadiyah for their willingness to nurture and develop the students' talents.

Special thanks were also extended to the boarding school leaders, teachers, educational staff, and parents of the students, as with strong collaboration, the goal of advancing education and building a bright future for the students can be achieved.

Also present at the event were Deputy Director H. Amel Dahlan, Insan Hasibuan, and Surya Bunawan; Boarding School Secretary Zainal Abidin, faculty members, and administrative staff.(mus)
