TANAH DATAR, kiprahkita.net - Nagari Tapi Selo Bolek Godang held a spectacular event on Saturday afternoon (27/07/2024).

A total of 1000 lopek kucuik sonok were paraded by the women or bundo kanduang along the road leading to the main tent in front of the Tapi Selo Village Head office.

During the parade, the bundo kanduang were seen carrying jamba filled with traditional Tapi Selo food on their heads, while others carried trays filled with lopek kucuik sonok.

Lopek kucuik sonok is a dish made from glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves, with added banana and palm sugar or manisan for flavor.

The event also featured the traditional manjapuik marapulai jo kudo bagonto, attended by Regent Eka Putra, accompanied by the Chairwoman of TP PKK Ny. Lise Eka Putra and their entourage.

They paraded to the gadang house for a traditional meal, bajamba, according to local customs.

In front of thousands of people and invited guests, Regent Tanah Datar Eka Putra, expressed his appreciation, gratitude, and pride in reviving old traditions in a major event that has become part of the Tanah Datar tourism calendar.

“We can hold this event again, which was previously halted for about 3 months because our region was struck by a disaster. It is gradually recovering. We must not continue to drown in sorrow; we must rise, and tourism is one of our mainstays, so we must continue to explore its potential,” he said.

Regent Eka also mentioned that the number of tourists in West Sumatra reached 6.8 million, with approximately 1 million visitors to Tanah Datar.

The local government continues to innovate with various events, including pacu jawi and the Minangkabau charm festival.

West Sumatra Governor, represented by the Head of the Tourism Office Luhur Budianda, also expressed high appreciation for the one village one event initiative, as it supports the number of tourist visits to West Sumatra.

As of June 2024, tourist visits to West Sumatra have reached 6.8 million, with a target of 13.5 million visitors, 51 percent of which are domestic tourists, while foreign tourists have exceeded 31,000.

Tepi Selo Village Head Genta Maulana Akbar stated that the Tapi Selo Bolek Godang event is held from July 27 to 29 and is a blessing for the village.

The event not only boosts the local economy but also strengthens social bonds. According to the elders, this is the first time such a grand event has been held in Tapi Selo, and many migrants have returned home to witness it.

Genta hopes that the regional government will pay attention to the continued development of the village, including infrastructure and public facilities, to support future events.(mus)
