20 Residents Participate in Traditional Dalamak Making Workshop

TANAH DATAR, kiprahkita.net - A group of 20 residents from Nagari Koto Tangah, Tanjung Emas District, Tanah Datar Regency, took part in a workshop on making Dalamak, a traditional Minangkabau craft used in ceremonial events and widely sold around the tomb areas. The workshop took place from July 20 to 29, 2024.

During the opening of the workshop at the Kantor Walinagari Koto Tangah on Saturday, July 20, 2024, Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra, expressed his hope that the activity would help improve the local economy. 

"I hope that through this workshop, skilled workers in Dalamak making will emerge, creating new opportunities to enhance the community's welfare," said Regent Eka.

Eka added that after the workshop, participants could take advantage of the program "Maximize the Eradication of Loan Sharks to Eliminate Them in Tanah Datar" (Makan Rendang) for sustainability. 

"After this workshop, there is the Makan Rendang program to support funding. This program offers unsecured loans up to IDR 10 million for MSMEs, in accordance with regulations," he stated.

Regent also advised all participants to take the Dalamak workshop seriously. "Participate in this activity wholeheartedly, as the skills gained will not only serve as a means of knowledge transfer but also help preserve the local crafts.

Meanwhile, Koto Tangah Village Secretary Radi'is expressed his gratitude for the support of the Tanah Datar District Government, which enabled the Dalamak workshop to be carried out successfully. 

"We hope that the 20 participants in the Dalamak workshop will innovate. We also hope that the skills gained during the workshop will be shared with other community members. Thank you for the support from the District Government for this workshop," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Workshop Committee, Randi Hargianto, stated that the 20 participants in the Dalamak workshop consisted of members of the PKK and the Bundo Kanduang Nagari Koto Tangah Organization. 

"The Dalamak making workshop is designed to help participants develop specific skills and competencies. Hopefully, the objectives of this workshop will be applied in the community," said Randi Hargianto, witnessed by Tanjung Emas Sub-district Head Zulkifli, S.Sos, community leaders, and other invited guests.(*)
