TANAH DATAR, kiprahkita.net- Following the devastating flash floods that hit several areas in Tanah Datar Regency on May 11, 2024, hundreds of affected families continue to struggle with the aftermath.

To alleviate their suffering, aid has been pouring in from both domestic and international sources, including the Minang community in Australia.

This information was conveyed by the Chairman of the Minang Diaspora, Prof. Fasli Jalal, during the delivery of aid to 135 flood-affected families.

The aid was received directly by the Regent of Tanah Datar Eka Putra, at the Indojolito Batusangkar gazebo on Friday afternoon, July 5, 2024.

Jalal explained, "Good news spreads quickly, and bad news even faster," which motivated the Yarsi University Foundation, Surau Sydney Australia, Minang Diaspora, and the Minang community in Australia to unite in helping the flood victims.

They provided Rp1 million to each of the 135 affected families. "We hope that those who have been affected by this disaster will find strength and patience," he Said.

Jalal said, you are not alone; many of your brothers and sisters, not only in Indonesia but also in Australia, are here to support you.

Insya Allah, each family will receive Rp1 million. Additionally, we are ready to assist children who have been displaced and are unable to attend school.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Yarsi University Foundation, Jurnalis Uddin, added that the foundation is prepared to support the education costs of children from affected families, from early childhood education to higher education.

Meanwhile, Nofrilatif, Chairman of Surau Sydney Australia, representing 450 Minang families in Australia, expressed concern over the disaster in Tanah Datar.

Regent Eka Putra, upon receiving the aid, expressed his gratitude for the support from all parties who have assisted the flood victims in Tanah Datar.

"We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the benefactors who have helped alleviate the burden on our residents affected by the flash floods.
