PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.netIn celebration of the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram 1446 Hijriyah, which coincides with Sunday, July 7, 2023, Muhammadiyah of Padang Panjang Batipuh X Koto (Pabasko) is organizing a grand tabligh akbar.

The Tabligh hosts at Masjid Taqwa Muhammadiyah Kauman, Jl. KH. Ahmad Dahlan No.1 Padang Panjang, West Sumatera.

"Our Tabligh Akbar will be held on Saturday morning, July 6, 2024. The speaker is Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Ahmad Al-Khatib asy-Syami az-Zubaidy. He is a lecturer at LIPIA Jakarta from Syria, currently giving short courses for students at Kauman Islamic Boarding School in Padang Panjang," said Suheri, Chairman of the Taqwa Muhammadiyah Mosque Management, Kauman.

According to him, in addition to welcoming the Islamic New Year, this event, which involves all leaders, members, sympathizers, and employees of Muhammadiyah's charitable efforts in the Pabasko region, also marks the 115th anniversary of Muhammadiyah's journey according to the Hijriyah calendar.

Suheri mentioned that on this occasion, Muhammadiyah Pabasko will also launch the Gebyar 200 KTAM Gratis program.

"We will also showcase the skills and abilities of our tahfidz student, Mutawakkil Mahbub, who won the Quran memorization competition on RCTI last year," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) Pabasko, Musriadi Musanif, urged the Muhammadiyah community to attend the tabligh akbar as it is an important moment for Muhammadiyah in promoting the implementation of a Single Global Hijriyah Calendar or Kalendar Hijriyah Global Tunggal (KHGT).

"The determination of the beginning of the Hijriyah month is always a significant topic in the lives of Muslims. KHGT offers a more systematic solution for setting the beginning of the new month based on clear astronomical criteria. In KHGT, the new month begins based on several key parameters, namely imkan rukyat (visibility of the new crescent) and conjunction," he said.

Based on the study by the Tarjih and Tajdid Council of Muhammadiyah's Central Leadership, imkan rukyat is the possibility of sighting the first crescent moon after conjunction or ijtimak.

According to KHGT, imkan rukyat occurs when the moon's altitude is at least 5 degrees and the elongation is at least 8 degrees at sunset anywhere on earth.

Additionally, the conjunction must occur before 12:00 midnight Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to determine the start of the new month the next day.

If the above conditions are not met, i.e., if the conjunction occurs after 12:00 midnight GMT, the new month can still begin, provided the conjunction occurs before dawn in New Zealand and is visible in the Americas or other regions outside the Americas.

"If there is no region where the crescent is visible on the day of conjunction, the new month will begin the day after tomorrow," he explained.

He added that to determine the beginning of Muharram 1446 H, based on astronomical calculations, the moon's conjunction occurs on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 22:57:19 GMT.

Subsequently, the first crescent visibility or imkan rukyat occurs on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:30:38 GMT, with the moon's altitude about 6 degrees and elongation 8 degrees.

"Based on the KHGT criteria, this condition meets the requirements to set the beginning of Muharram 1446 H on Sunday, July 7, 2024," he added.

He noted that this date determination holds significant meaning for Muslims. In addition to marking the start of the Hijriyah New Year, 1 Muharram is often commemorated as a moment for reflection and self-evaluation.

With this KHGT-based determination, it is hoped to reduce differences of opinion and enhance unity in determining the start of the Hijriyah months.

This will greatly help in harmonizing various religious and social activities that depend on the Hijriyah calendar, including determining Islamic holidays and planning other annual activities. (release)
