Muhammadiyah Youth and NA Pabasko Integrated Regional Deliberation

PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - Political engagement is neither taboo nor forbidden for Pemuda Muhammadiyah, but it must be practiced with politeness and progressiveness, as exemplified by many politicians from Muhammadiyah.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Regional Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah (PWPM) of West Sumatra, Ade Herdiwansyah, on Sunday (28/7) at the Pendopo of the Mayor's Official Residence in Padang Panjang.

Ade conveyed this message while providing guidance at the opening of the Integrated Regional Deliberation of the Regional Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah (PDPM) and the Regional Board of Nasyiyatul Aisyiyah (PDNA) Padang Panjang Batipuh X Koto (Pabasko).

The event was attended by the Acting Mayor of Padang Panjang, represented by Expert Staff Nofriyanti, the Chairman of the Regional Board of NA Sumbar, Ririn Fitria, the Chairman of the Regional Board of Muhammadiyah (PDM) Pabasko, Musriadi Musanif, and the Chairman of the Regional Board of Aisyiyah (PDA) Pabasko, Rusmaida Nasution, along with their teams.

"Pemuda Muhammadiyah is the only autonomous organization within Muhammadiyah whose members are allowed to engage in practical politics. Therefore, politics, as one of the fields of Muhammadiyah's da'wah, should become its domain. It is not the ultimate goal but a tool to achieve the goal," Ade stated.

Ade urged Muhammadiyah to make Pemuda Muhammadiyah the spearhead of siyasah da'wah, rather than undertaking it alone.

Regarding politics, Musriadi emphasized a paradigm shift. In the past, discussions about political succession were prohibited, but this is no longer the case.

"In the recent legislative elections, Muhammadiyah endorsed several candidates and, through silent operations, encouraged Muhammadiyah members to vote for these recommended names. Many of them succeeded in securing seats in parliament," he said.

The success story of providing endorsements, demonstrating that political engagement is not taboo within Muhammadiyah, was repeated in the recent re-election of two DPD RI candidates, Ustad Jelita Donal and Irman Gusman.

Currently, Muhammadiyah is again facing practical political situations, specifically the regional head elections.

"PDM Pabasko, through the Institute for Wisdom and Public Policy (LHKP), is currently reviewing candidates for the mayor of Padang Panjang and the regent of Tanah Datar," Musriadi mentioned.

He expressed hopes that Pemuda Muhammadiyah and Nasyiyatul Aisyiyah would contribute to the selection of candidates to be endorsed by Muhammadiyah. Following this, he urged proactive steps to ensure the success of these endorsed candidates.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PDNA Pabasko, Murdia Aini, and the Chairman of PDPM Pabasko, Irwansyah, called for an in-depth discussion during the integrated deliberation to produce strategic decisions and elect trustworthy leaders for the next period.

They also extended their gratitude to the Padang Panjang administration and its team for facilitating the smooth and successful integrated deliberation.

On behalf of the acting mayor of Padang Panjang, Nofriyanti congratulated the entire Pemuda Muhammadiyah and NA families for successfully conducting the leadership transition process according to their period.

"Congratulations and success to Pemuda Muhammadiyah and NA. Let us continue to collaborate to advance the ummah, especially in Padang Panjang, and Batipuh X Koto, which is the closest neighbor of Padang Panjang," she concluded. (mus)
