Padang Bagoro Focuses on Eliminating Illegal Dumping Sites in June

PADANG - This June, the Padang Bagoro initiative is concentrating on efforts to eliminate illegal dumping sites in residential areas.

Acting Mayor of Padang Andree Algamar, conducted a visit and clean-up action in Koto Lua Village, Pauh District, Padang City.

During this visit, illegal dumping sites were found on the riverbanks. Two such sites were located only 50 meters apart.

Local residents admitted to disposing of their waste at these locations due to the considerable distance to the nearest official waste container (legal dumping site).

As a follow-up to these findings, the Orange Team will be deployed on Monday, July 1, to clean up and transport the waste from the identified illegal dumping sites.

Additionally, the Padang City Government will provide a plot of land near SMPN 23 as the new location for an official dumping site, which is planned to be operational starting July 1, 2024.

To prevent the re-emergence of illegal dumping at these sites, residents have also installed no dumping signs during the recent Padang Bagoro activities.

As a long-term solution, the government encourages residents who do not have the time to bring their waste to the official dumping sites to utilize the local Waste Collection Service.

By doing so, it is hoped that the potential for future illegal dumping sites will be eliminated, and the cleanliness of the environment will be well-maintained.(kominfopdg)
