PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - In an effort to continuously motivate artisans in Padang Panjang, Acting Chair of the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda), Sri Hidayani Sonny, visited and provided guidance to several local artisans.
Accompanied by the Head of the Trade and Industry Department of the Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs Office, Azani Maizuar, Sri Hidayani visited various artisans, including Batik Rang Minang, Canting Buana, Eikora Eco Print, leather craftsmen, and others.
Sri expressed her hope that the artisans in Padang Panjang would continue to innovate and develop their businesses to gain national recognition. "This is also a form of our attention to help artisans advance and become more creative," she said.
With the continued progress of these artisans, she added, they can seize opportunities for partnerships and connections from various visitors to their galleries.
"We hope that with this guidance and visit, artisans will remain motivated. We are confident that some of our artisans have already expanded and gained recognition in Indonesia. This can serve as motivation for our other artisans," said Sri.
GUMALA
On Monday (22/7/2024), thirty residents participated in a Knitting and Finishing Puring Training organized by the Guguk Malintang (Gumala) Village in Padang Panjang Timur (PPT) District, held at the local village office hall.
The Village Head of Gumala, Ilham Kusuma Ry, stated that this activity is part of a community empowerment program proposed during the 2023 Musrenbang and accommodated by the Padang Panjang City Government.
"This empowerment program aims to enhance the skills of the community and support economic opportunities," Ilham Kusuma Ry explained. "Through this training, I hope that the participating women can apply what they have learned and also share this knowledge with the broader community."
The training was attended by local residents, PKK cadres, and Dasawisma members. The event will run for four days until July 25, 2024, featuring experienced knitting instructors, Rini Prima Gusti, and Shintia Putri Lidya.
Zulfa Gusti, the Head of Community Empowerment at PPT, who opened the event, expressed her hope that participants would gain new skills that could lead to additional side businesses and new sources of income.
"I hope this activity doesn't stop after the training ends. I encourage the participants to train their neighbors or children who are interested in knitting. This way, we won't need to bring in external instructors again, as one or several of the women participating today can become mentors for others," Zulfa Gusti said.
During the knitting and finishing puring training, participants produced various high-quality handicrafts such as keychains, bags, dolls, hats, clothes, and more.(kominfo pp/edi)
