Uno Applauds 2024 Tanah Karo Flower and Fruit Festival

KARO, kiprahkita.net - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, expressed his appreciation for the 2024 Tanah Karo Flower and Fruit Festival, held at the Tugu Perjuangan in central Berastagi, Karo, North Sumatra, on Friday (July 5, 2024). This festival is part of the 110 Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2024 series.

During the festival, Uno sampled various fruits and highlighted the significance of the event in promoting tourism and the creative economy in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

“This Flower and Fruit Festival reminds us of countries with advanced tourism industries," Uno said.

Karo is renowned for its extraordinary fruits such as oranges, salak (snake fruit), avocados, dragon fruits, and dates, which President Jokowi has instructed to continue developing.

This festival helps stimulate the local economy as it involves many participants. It’s crucial to ensure downstream development from this event.

The Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Menparekraf) explained that the Tanah Karo Flower and Fruit Festival, themed "Karo Glorious Nature," is a form of gratitude for the region's fertile land. Initially a village-level event, it has now gained national recognition.

The festival, involving all villages in Karo Regency, features a carnival showcasing agricultural produce, a parade of decorated vehicles, and a collaboration of cultural and traditional performances symbolizing community harmony.

Held from July 4-6, 2024, the festival highlights various unique attractions and exhibitions of the best creative MSME products in North Sumatra Province.

Menparekraf emphasized the importance of enhancing events like this, included in the KEN agenda, to improve further next year.

“This way, it will attract not only local and national tourists but also international visitors,” said Sandiaga Uno.

Cory Sriwaty Sebayang, the Regent of Karo Regency, stated that this year’s festival aims to attract 80,000 visitors.

“To date, we have reached 45,000,” said Cory.

Cory also expressed gratitude to Menparekraf for supporting tourism in Karo Regency.

“The Minister's visit marks a significant advancement for Tanah Karo. With his support, Karo Regency will progress further in tourism, particularly in future national events,” Cory added.(kemenparekraf release)
