PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - A total of 14 athletes from Padang Panjang are gearing up to compete in the 21st National Sports Week (PON), scheduled to take place in Aceh and North Sumatra from September 8-20, 2024.
In addition to the athletes, Padang Panjang will also send six coaches to accompany them as part of the West Sumatra contingent.
Before departing for the competition venues, the athletes, who have been undergoing centralized training (TC) in Padang City and Padang Pariaman Regency, were officially sent off by the Acting Mayor (PJ) of Padang Panjang, Sonny Budaya Putra, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Padang City.
Sonny reminded the athletes to stay united, maintain their health, and stay determined to achieve success.
"Padang Panjang has talented individuals who will bring pride to both Padang Panjang and West Sumatra on the national stage through this PON. Let us all pray that our athletes can deliver their best performances," Sonny said.
He also advised the athletes to take care of their health until the end of the competition.
"We are praying for the athletes to stay healthy until the end of the games. Stay focused during the matches. Maintain your commitment and discipline," Sonny added.
During the send-off ceremony, the Padang Panjang National Sports Committee (KONI) provided financial assistance to the athletes, with Rp2 million given to each outstanding athlete and Rp1 million to each coach.
The Padang Panjang City Government also provided energy drinks to support the athletes.
The 14 athletes set to compete in the PON include Dini Restuti (FOPI athlete), Jimmy Firdaus and M. Idvan (ABTI athletes), Ayub Ansori Aulia (Kickboxing athlete), Ario Kevin Savitra and M. Ivan Febrian (Hapkido athletes), Anjellyka Sari (Kurash athlete), and Indra Mulyadi (Bodybuilding athlete).
Additionally, the team includes Nur Rahimah (Kodrat athlete), Ade Wahyu Fadillah (FAJI athlete), and four Gateball athletes: Lidya, Wawan Prasetya, Hendra Beni Saputra, and Widya.
The coaches accompanying them are Reski Belia (Gateball coach), Dr. Willadi Rasyid (ABTI coach), Abdul Halim Alfarisiy and Bambang Satria (Hapkido coaches), Sari Mariati (ABTI coach), and Edi Gunawan (Kodrat coach). (kominfopdp)
