City Government of Padang to Implement Concrete Steps to Curb Inflation

PADANG, kiprahkita.id - The City Government of Padang (Pemko Padang) is preparing concrete measures to reduce the inflation rate.

This was conveyed by Acting Secretary of the City of Padang, Yosefriawan, after attending the High-Level Meeting of the Regional Inflation Control Team (HLM TPID) for the third quarter of 2024 at the Anggun Nan Tongga Auditorium, Bank Indonesia Representative Office in West Sumatra.

During the HLM TPID meeting, Governor of West Sumatra, Mahyeldi, stated that West Sumatra Province is ranked fourth among the top ten provinces with the highest inflation rates in June 2024, necessitating several concrete measures for its control. According to data from BPS Sumbar, the inflation rate for West Sumatra in June 2024 was 4.04% (YoY).

"We need to determine concrete steps to control it so that inflation can be kept at the same level or below the national inflation rate, which was recorded at 2.51% in June 2024," said Mahyeldi.

Mahyeldi mentioned that Padang City and Bukittinggi City remain the areas used as samples for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in West Sumatra. The commodities contributing to the decline in the Price Development Index (IPH) include red chilies, shallots, and broiler chicken meat.

Mahyeldi outlined several measures to control inflation, such as expanding planting areas and creating new rice fields, implementing pump irrigation systems to anticipate droughts, facilitating the distribution and supply of strategic food commodities that trigger inflation to areas with supply shortages, collaborating with trader associations, supporting the distribution of SPHP rice, and synergizing deconcentration activities from Bapanas to support these inflation control efforts.(kominfo pdg)
