Event Coordinator Azani Maizuar, explained that Minangkabau batik was chosen as a key criterion for judging, including both traditional hand-drawn and stamped batik styles.

“This competition highlights authentic Minangkabau batik as a primary judging criterion to support and preserve Minangkabau culture. The evaluation also considers theme relevance, use of authentic Minangkabau batik, catwalk performance, stage presence, and makeup of all participants,” Azani explained.

The goal of this fashion show, he added, is to revitalize the cultural significance of Minangkabau batik as a heritage of West Sumatra.

It also encourages participants to creatively combine traditional batik with modern fashion elements.(kominfo pdp)
