PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - SMKN 1 emerged as the champion of the Inter-High School Football Tournament in Padang Panjang, defeating SMKN 2 in a dramatic penalty shootout during the final match on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Khatib Sulaiman Bancahlaweh Stadium.
The match, witnessed by thousands of spectators, was highly emotional and intensely competitive.
The event was attended by Acting Mayor Sonny Budaya Putra, Interim Chairman of the DPRD Imbral, Deputy Police Chief Commissioner Eridal and other invited guests.
In the penalty shootout, the first five shooters from each team ended in a 4-4 tie.
SMKN 1 goalkeeper M Faridh Al Firidzi became the hero by saving the penalty kick from SMKN 2's player, Salman Alfarizhi, confidently reading the direction of the ball and making a crucial save.
However, SMKN 1's shooter, M Hafis, also missed his shot, sending it over the crossbar.
The penalty shootout continued, and M Faridh ultimately secured SMKN 1's victory with a 6-5 score after saving the seventh penalty from SMKN 2's M Ridwan.
Earlier in the first and second halves, the match was fiercely contested, with both teams striving to dominate the field. SMKN 2 started the game with high pressure, relying on fast and aggressive play.
They created several dangerous chances through wing attacks, but poor finishing and brilliant saves from the SMKN 1 goalkeeper prevented any goals.
On the other hand, SMKN 1 responded with sharp counterattacks, utilizing the speed of their forwards to threaten the opponent's defense.
The SMKN 1 goalkeeper made several crucial saves, keeping their goal intact.
As the second half ended, the score remained 0-0, forcing the teams into a penalty shootout.
The top scorers of the SLTA-level Student League Tournament were Rayhan and Rafael Ananda Putra from SMKN 2, both scoring seven goals each.
After the match, Acting Mayor Sonny congratulated SMKN 1 on their victory. He also encouraged SMKN 2 and all the other schools that participated in the competition.
"Congratulations to SMKN 1 for winning the tournament. This victory is the result of hard work, dedication, and an unyielding spirit. We hope this will inspire all students in our city," he said.
