PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - In an effort to prevent Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) behavior within the pesantren environment, Kauman Muhammadiyah Padang Panjang held a counseling session on the psychological impact and prevention of LGBT behavior for the entire academic community of Kauman Pesantren.
The event was held at the Taqwa Muhammadiyah Kauman Mosque on Thursday (1/8), featuring competent speakers.
Dr. Derliana, the Head of Kauman Pesantren, stated that this activity is a serious initiative by the pesantren to combat LGBT behavior.
Although there are currently no LGBT cases at their pesantren, preventive measures are necessary to anticipate potential external exposure.
"Although we don't have such cases in our pesantren right now, we still need to prevent it through counseling for the entire community. The issue of LGBT is serious and cannot be ignored as it is a contagious problem. Anyone can become a victim or perpetrator," said Derliana.
She hopes that counseling on the psychological impact, health dangers of LGBT, and the threat of sexually transmitted infections will make students and teachers more aware of their daily interactions.
"This is a moral responsibility for us in educational institutions. It is possible for children to become victims, which is why we take seriously the need to control their interactions both in the dormitory and in the madrasah," she explained.
Derliana also revealed plans to establish a task force for preventing deviant behavior that will coordinate with the social services, health department, and police.
The event, which took place at the Taqwa Muhammadiyah Mosque and the Girls' Dormitory Hall, featured speakers from the field of Islamic Psychology, Dr. Irman, and motivator Ridho Al Jundi.
In his presentation, Irman explained the causes of psychological disorders leading to LGBT behavior.
He emphasized that there are two benchmarks for viewing this phenomenon.
The Western benchmark does not consider LGBT as a mental disorder because it involves consensual relationships.
However, the Islamic benchmark categorizes LGBT behavior as a violation of Allah's rules.
"A mentally healthy person is one who maintains a relationship with Allah (hasbuminallah) and with humans (hasbuminannas)," said the head of Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) of Tanah Datar Regency.
He also explained that in psychology, the heart is divided into three categories: a dead heart, a sick heart, and a healthy heart.
A dead heart belongs to someone who enjoys committing sins, while a sick heart belongs to someone who is doubtful about something. A healthy heart belongs to someone who believes in Allah, is confident, and does good deeds.
"When someone gets closer to Allah, it influences their morals positively, because only Allah can change hearts," he explained.
Meanwhile, Ridho emphasized that LGBT behavior is a form of insult to human nature. The phenomenon of deviant sexual behavior has existed since the time of Prophet Lot (AS), where Allah punished them severely for their actions.
"LGBT is a psychological issue that needs to be addressed by all parties, including both the individuals and their environment. With good cooperation, it is possible to completely overcome the LGBT problem," concluded Ridho. (rel)
