TANAH DATAR, kiprahkita.net - The Chair of the Division of Planning, Data, and Information of KPUD Tanah Datar, Tomas Hendriko, reported that the process of updating and compiling the voter list in Tanah Datar is progressing smoothly.
Various measures have been implemented to ensure accurate and inclusive voter data.
According to Tomas, the KPU does not separate voters from the same family in GPS, making it easier for residents to access polling stations (TPS).
Choosing easily accessible polling stations is one of the primary considerations and responsibilities of the KPUD.
"Each TPS can accommodate a maximum of 600 voters, but in West Sumatra, no TPS has exceeded that number, although some areas still have larger numbers," he explained.
Following the completion of the matching and research (coklit) process, the next step is the compilation of the Temporary Voter List (DPS), which will then proceed to the compilation of the Final Voter List (DPT) and the Additional Voter List.
The DPS data is updated based on findings in the field, such as voters who cannot be found, are deceased, or other cases.
"There have been instances where the data indicated a person had passed away, but it was actually their family member who had died," Tomas added.
Tomas emphasized that the principle of inclusivity, or the involvement of all parties, is the key principle in the voter data matching process in Tanah Datar.
Currently, KPUD is in the process of cleaning up the data, including new voters who will be eligible in November 2024, as well as voters who are No Longer Eligible (TMS) due to death, duplicate data, or status as TNI/Polri or Foreign Nationals (WNA).
"Field officers must be cautious in documenting voters and should be supported by sufficient documentation regarding the individual's status. If there are discrepancies in the data, KPU and Bawaslu must coordinate," Tomas stressed.
He also explained that the de jure principle, not de facto, now applies in determining voters.
"Civil documentation must be clear. For example, if someone has a Tanah Datar ID card but resides in Jakarta, they are still registered as a voter in Tanah Datar," he said.
Special locations such as factory or large plantation areas require at least 100 voters to form a TPS, with a special TPS provided in front of Batusangkar Prison.
Tomas added that Bawaslu's supervision during the coklit process has been effective, and inter-agency coordination has also been efficient.
However, since voter data is dynamic, collaboration with all stakeholders must continue to be strengthened.
"Field conditions indicate that collaboration with all parties is essential to ensure accurate and valid voter data," he concluded.(mus)
