SIMALUNGUN, kiprahkita.net - In a significant development for the local agricultural sector, Bupati (Regent) Simalungun Radiapoh Hasiholan Sinaga (RHS), officially flagged off the first export of fresh ginger from Simalungun to Dubai on Monday (September 23, 2024).
The export ceremony took place at the Sirpang Dalig Raya Ginger Warehouse in Dalig Raya Village, Raya District, Simalungun, North Sumatra.
Darwis Purba, representing the ginger entrepreneurs, expressed his gratitude for the presence and support of Bupati Sinaga, who personally oversaw the official export launch.
"We hope this initiative will continue, and we pray for the Bupati's health and strength as he leads Simalungun forward," said Darwis.
In his speech, Bupati Sinaga commended PT Daidan Agro Indonesia Exporter for taking the initiative to introduce Simalungun’s ginger to the international market.
"This is the first shipment of fresh ginger from Simalungun to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and it is an outstanding breakthrough," the Bupati remarked.
Bupati Sinaga also expressed hope that the export of agricultural commodities from Simalungun would significantly boost the local economy, particularly for the people of Dalig Raya.
"We hope this will not be a one-time event but will continue and expand. It would be great if not only ginger but other local agricultural products could be exported as well," he added.
During the event, Diki, representing the exporter, explained that they purchase fresh ginger from farmers at Rp 20,000 per kilogram, with the produce prepared for export.
This milestone is expected to pave the way for further growth in Simalungun’s agricultural exports, bringing prosperity to local farmers and strengthening the region’s economy.(kominfosml)
