Jakarta Maintains Top Position in PON 2024 Medal Standings


BANDA ACEH, kiprahkita.net - As of Tuesday morning (September 17, 2024), the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKJ) continues to lead the medal standings in the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) XXI in Aceh-Sumatra Utara. Jakarta has amassed a total of 330 medals, consisting of 125 gold, 103 silver, and 102 bronze.

West Java follows closely in second place with a total of 343 medals, but trails in gold with 116, alongside 117 silver and 110 bronze. East Java is in third place with 302 medals, including 101 gold, 102 silver, and 99 bronze.

The two host regions, Sumatra Utara (Sumut) and Aceh, maintain their fourth and fifth positions, respectively, just like on Monday (September 15, 2024). 

Sumut has secured 60 gold, 30 silver, and 69 bronze, while Aceh has collected 52 gold, 37 silver, and 44 bronze.

Meanwhile, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Bali, Lampung, and East Kalimantan are ranked sixth to tenth in the standings. 

Central Java has won 44 gold, 47 silver, and 76 bronze, followed by Bali with 25 gold, 24 silver, and 44 bronze. 

Yogyakarta holds 22 gold, 31 silver, and 37 bronze, East Kalimantan has earned 18 gold, 31 silver, and 44 bronze, and Lampung has 17 gold, 13 silver, and 23 bronze.

Six provinces have yet to win a gold medal: Maluku, West Sulawesi, Bengkulu, Southwest Papua, and North Maluku. The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) contingent has yet to win any medals.

On Tuesday (September 17, 2024), several sports will continue to feature both qualification and final matches.

Tarung Drajat, Shorinji Kempo, and Sepak Takraw are scheduled for preliminary rounds on Tuesday (September 17, 2024). Meanwhile, Archery and some events in Sport Climbing will continue with qualification rounds.

Sports holding final matches on Tuesday (September 17, 2024) include Soft Tennis, selected events in Sport Climbing, Rowing, Shooting, Paragliding, Aerosports/Aeromodelling, Diving, Roller Skating, Triathlon, Hang Gliding, and Whitewater Rafting.

With many medals still up for grabs, the standings remain dynamic, and shifts in rankings are highly likely as each contingent vies for more medals.(infopublik)
