TANAH DATAR, kiprahkita.net - In an effort to reconnect with their ancestral land, Minangkabau descendants residing in Thailand visited Tanah Datar Regency.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Chairwoman of Dekranasda, Mrs. Lise Eka Putra, and other related officials at the Indojolito Building in Batusangkar.
Tuan Narong Keristhongkam, who led the group, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from Mrs. Lise, the relevant departments, and Bundo Kanduang Tanah Datar.
"Our visit here is aimed at deepening our understanding of Minangkabau culture, strengthening ties with Tanah Datar as the ancestral homeland of the Minangkabau people, and inviting Tanah Datar Regency to visit the Rumah Gadang we have in Pattani Province, Thailand," he said.
As a testament to his love for Minangkabau culture, Tuan Narong has built a house resembling the Istano Pagaruyung in Pattani Province, Thailand. The house is adorned with various antique Minangkabau-themed items and was constructed over the past seven years at a cost of approximately Rp7.5 billion.
Within one of the rooms in this Rumah Gadang, Tuan Narong has dedicated a special space to promote and showcase various IKM (Small and Medium Industry) products from Tanah Datar.
"As a sign of our love for Minangkabau arts and culture, we have provided a special space for Tanah Datar’s IKM products in our Rumah Gadang. We are eagerly looking forward to the visit of Tanah Datar Regency to Pattani," he concluded.
Mrs. Lise warmly welcomed this information and expressed her deep appreciation for the Minangkabau descendants in Thailand who are actively promoting the unique IKM products of Luhak Nan Tuo abroad.
On this occasion, Mrs. Lise Eka Putra extended her heartfelt welcome to Tuan Narong Keristhongkam and his entourage, who came to personally witness the craftsmanship of Tanah Datar’s IKM.
"We sincerely thank Tuan Narong and Puan Jamila Keristhongkam for their goodwill in promoting the unique IKM products of Luhak Nan Tuo overseas. We at Dekranasda Tanah Datar highly appreciate this initiative and look forward to visiting you in Thailand," said Ny. Lise. (prokopimtnd)
