Toba Regency Government Protects 7,000 Vulnerable Workers

TOBA, kiprahkita.net - The Toba Regency Government, through the Toba Regency's Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service and Manpower Office, has enrolled 7,000 residents in the BPJS Employment program for the 2024 fiscal year.

This program provides Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Insurance (JKM) for vulnerable workers, independent workers, and non-wage earners.

This was conveyed by Toba Regency Secretary, Augus Sitorus, during the symbolic handover of Death Insurance benefits to 12 participants, which was received by their respective heirs at the Toba Regency Office on Monday (October 14, 2024).

“The Toba Regency Government is working in partnership with BPJS Employment to protect vulnerable workers. This year, we have targeted 7,000 residents, and hopefully, we can increase this number next year,” said Augus Sitorus.

This program is a demonstration of the Toba Regency Government’s concern for its residents, particularly those with low incomes who are not salaried workers. “It reflects our commitment to ensuring the health and safety of our community,” he added.

Chandra F. Sitanggang, Head of BPJS Employment Balige Branch in Pematang Siantar, also expressed his gratitude for this collaboration.

“We hope the number of residents covered by the program can increase, from 7,000 to 10,000 or even 15,000,” he stated.

At the event, BPJS Employment handed over a death benefit of IDR 42 million to each beneficiary, along with scholarships for two children of the deceased participants.(mctoba)
