Hundreds of Karate Athletes Compete in Padang Panjang

PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - Hundreds of karate athletes from West Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi gathered to participate in the Commander of Battalion B Pelopor Brimob Karate Championship Cup IV-2024, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Padang Panjang Sport Center.  

The event was officially opened by the Acting City Secretary Winarno, and attended by local government officials (Forkopimda), the Chairman of the National Sports Committee (KONI), the Head of the Tourism, Youth, and Sports Agency (Porapar), referees, judges, and the parents of the athletes.  

In his opening remarks, Winarno praised the event organized by Lemkari Brimob Padang Panjang, highlighting its significance not only as a platform to showcase karate talents but also as an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie, uphold sportsmanship, and foster a spirit of unity.  

“This championship serves as a venue to nurture the potential and abilities of karate athletes from across West Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi. We hope this event will produce talented karate athletes who can excel not only at the regional level but also nationally and internationally,” Winarno stated.  

He encouraged participants to display their best skills while embracing the values of sportsmanship and fair play. 

“True victory is not just about taking home medals but becoming a better version of oneself. Let this championship be a chance to test your abilities and develop your potential. Together, let’s make this event a success,” he added.  

Commander of Brimob Battalion B, Commissioner Jendrival, revealed that the event featured 31 contingents from West Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi. 

The championship aims to enhance athletic achievements, promote karate in West Sumatra, and serve as a trial to assess the capabilities of athletes from Padang Panjang.  

“We hope this championship runs smoothly and becomes a valuable experience for everyone involved,” Jendrival remarked.  

The three-day event, running from December 27 to 29, 2024, is open to participants from various karate clubs across Sumatra. 

It serves as a platform for athletes to compete, grow, and prepare for higher-level challenges.  

This prestigious tournament stands as a testament to the commitment to developing karate in the region and building a competitive spirit among young athletes.(kominfopdp)
