MDMC Sends Emergency Aid to Tapsel and Maninjau

AGAM, kiprahkita.net  – Floods and landslides struck the Sigiran area in Nagari Tanjung Sani, Maninjau, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, on Monday (23/12) around 1:00 PM local time, causing significant damage to several homes.  

According to a report from the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) Agam Secretariat, delivered by Hafizul Hamdi and released by MDMC West Sumatra Chairman Portito, landslide debris consisting of mud, wood, and rocks hit four houses and one workshop.  

MDMC West Sumatra promptly dispatched an emergency response team to the affected area, those Tapanuli Selatan and Maninjau

Portito explained that the team was equipped with two ambulances—one of which was a direct donation from President Prabowo Subianto, and the other provided by Masjid Taqwa Muhammadiyah West Sumatra.  

In addition to the ambulances, the team brought various emergency supplies to support disaster response efforts, including:  

- Equipment for public kitchens  

- Hygiene kits, family kits, and kitchen kits  

- Clothing, drinking water, and supplies for infants and toddlers  

- Equipment for the elderly  

- Water pumps and generators for lighting  

- Tools such as shovels and hoes  

The MDMC team is expected to remain on-site for 7 to 10 days. Their efforts will focus on evacuation, temporary recovery, and the distribution of aid to affected residents.  

"We are bringing various emergency supplies to ease the burden on the affected community. Our planned mission duration is 7–10 days, but this will be evaluated as needed," said Portito.  

This emergency response aims to assist the Sigiran community in recovering from the impact of the flood and landslide.
