PAYAKUMBUH, kiprahkita.net - The Muhammadiyah Council for Primary and Secondary Education (Dikdasmen) in Payakumbuh, continues its efforts to ensure that children from underprivileged families have access to education in institutions under the Muhammadiyah organization.
Dr. Irwandi Nashir, Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Payakumbuh Regional Leadership, accompanied by Vice Chairman Mukti Ali, M.Si., emphasized that Muhammadiyah educational institutions fundamentally serve as centers for dakwah (Islamic advocacy).
"Helping underprivileged students is a top priority for Muhammadiyah," stated Nashir.
He further explained that Muhammadiyah educational institutions in Payakumbuh are not solely profit-oriented but also uphold social responsibility.
This approach aligns with the values of the Quran, specifically in Surah Al-Ma'un, which advocates for supporting the underprivileged.
"Not all students are charged the same tuition fees. Some pay half the amount, while others receive free education, depending on their parents' or guardians' economic conditions," he elaborated.
To support the funding for education, the Chairman of the Majlis Dikdasmen Muhammadiyah in Payakumbuh, Zakiati Salma, M.A., revealed that the council produces and sells dishwashing soap under the brand name I Light.
The production involves Muhammadiyah cadres through UD Tijarah, led by H. Andri, an alumnus of the Faculty of Law at Muhammadiyah University of Sumatra Barat.
"The I Light dishwashing soap has been officially licensed by the West Sumatra Provincial Health Office," Salma stated.
She added that the concept of "shopping while giving alms" is implemented in the product's sales, with a portion of the proceeds allocated to assist underprivileged students at Muhammadiyah elementary and junior high schools in Payakumbuh.
The dishwashing soap is currently available at a shop located within the Ansharullah Muhammadiyah Mosque complex in Payakumbuh.
"As consumer demand grows, the production of this soap will be increased to support Muhammadiyah's economic efforts," she added.
Through this initiative, the Muhammadiyah Dikdasmen Council in Payakumbuh not only plays a role in advancing education but also fosters solidarity and social awareness to support education for the underprivileged. (kiprahkita.com)
