PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net – The prices of green chilies and shallots have dropped significantly in the first week of December 2024, while remaining within reasonable levels for farmers.
This update was shared by Chandra Erfiko, an Economic Analyst from the Economic and Natural Resources Section of Padang Panjang City Government, on Sunday (8/12/2024).
According to Chandra, the price of green chilies decreased by IDR 1,333, from IDR 31,333 to IDR 30,000/kg. Shallots saw a decrease of IDR 1,000, from IDR 33,167 to IDR 32,167/kg.
Other commodities also experienced price reductions, including:
- Grade II rice: down by IDR 84, from IDR 16,084 to IDR 16,000/kg.
- Grade III rice: down by IDR 333, from IDR 15,333 to IDR 15,000/kg.
- Broiler chicken meat: down by IDR 333, from IDR 31,000 to IDR 30,667/kg.
"Five commodities have experienced price decreases, while five others have seen price increases," Chandra explained.
Notable price increases were observed in the following:
- Bird’s eye chilies: up by IDR 7,500, from IDR 25,500 to IDR 33,000/kg.
- Red chilies: up by IDR 500, from IDR 33,834 to IDR 34,334/kg.
- Garlic: up by IDR 667, from IDR 40,000 to IDR 40,667/kg.
- Eggplant: up by IDR 1,000, from IDR 7,000 to IDR 8,000/kg.
- Celery: up by IDR 5,000, from IDR 15,000 to IDR 20,000/kg.
“The significant increase in bird’s eye chili prices has not yet impacted consumer purchasing power,” Chandra noted.
He added that maintaining the supply of commodities like garlic, red chilies, and bird’s eye chilies—whose prices are rising—should be a priority to avoid further price surges during the upcoming National Religious Holidays of Christmas and New Year.
Meanwhile, other key commodity prices remained stable, including:
- Grade I rice: IDR 17,000/kg.
- Granulated sugar: IDR 18,000/kg.
- Segitiga Biru wheat flour: IDR 13,000/kg.
- Chicken eggs: IDR 27,467/kg.
- Beef: IDR 141,667/kg.
- Large free-range chicken: IDR 90,000/kg.
- Medium free-range chicken: IDR 80,000/kg.
- Small free-range chicken: IDR 70,000/kg.
- Simple packaged cooking oil: IDR 17,000/kg.
- Premium packaged cooking oil: IDR 20,667/kg.
- Bulk cooking oil: IDR 20,000/kg.
