TANAH DATAR, kiprahkita.net - Waste management in Nagari Simabur, Pariangan Subdistrict, has long been a challenge, particularly following the bustling activities on Mondays. Garbage often piles up in the market and is left unattended by the roadside.
This issue has now been resolved with the symbolic handover of a four-wheeled pickup truck worth IDR 178 million by Tanah Datar Regent, Eka Putra, to the Wali Nagari (Village Head) of Simabur, Ari Abriyanto.
The handover ceremony took place recently at the LKAAM Meeting Hall in Pariangan Subdistrict.
Ari expressed gratitude to the regional government for providing the pickup truck to Nagari Simabur. “This fulfills a promise made a few months ago regarding our concerns about the need for a vehicle for waste management in Nagari Simabur,” he said.
The new pickup truck is expected to play a crucial role in waste collection and management, replacing the traditional three-wheeled motorized carts previously used.
It will enable direct waste collection from residents’ homes, with recyclable materials being processed at the local Waste Bank to enhance the economy of both the community and the village.
Looking ahead, Ari hopes for continued government support for waste management in Nagari Simabur.
“We are committed to managing the Waste Bank effectively and aspire to make Simabur a pilot project for waste management through Waste Banks in Tanah Datar. We ask for support from the Regent, DPRD, and related agencies, as well as the community,” he added.
Community leader Dt. Sinaro also conveyed his appreciation to the Regent and his team for the pickup truck.
“On behalf of the people of Simabur, we extend our heartfelt thanks for this vehicle, which will significantly aid waste management efforts,” he said.
Dt. Sinaro also noted that this is the second vehicle received by Nagari Simabur from the government. “Previously, we were given an ambulance, which has been highly beneficial and complements the district’s Free Medical Treatment program. Thank you once again,” he stated.
Regent Eka Putra explained that the decision to provide a pickup truck to Simabur was based on the village's need and performance in waste management.
“Simabur Market has been exemplary in managing waste. This vehicle is well-deserved, and moving forward, Nagari Simabur will serve as a model for Waste Bank management. This aligns with the Wali Nagari’s vision and the district’s program,” he said.
The Regent also encouraged the pickup truck’s operation to extend to other villages within the Pariangan Subdistrict.
“This will not only address waste issues but also expand the Waste Bank's resources, which could positively impact the community’s economy,” he added.
He further emphasized the importance of support from relevant agencies to realize Nagari Simabur's vision for effective Waste Bank management.
“As the gateway to Batusangkar, a clean Nagari Simabur is essential. I applaud today’s efforts to strengthen waste management programs, particularly through the Waste Bank,” he concluded.(*)
