West Pasaman Local Government and Brimob Plant Corn

PASBAR, kiprahkita.net - As part of the National Food Security Program, the Commander of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit of the West Sumatra Regional Police (Brimob Polda Sumbar) Kombes Pol Joni Afrizal Syarifuddin, in collaboration with the local government and West Pasaman Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Communication Forum), initiated the planting of corn seeds on a 2-hectare plot of land.

This activity took place at the future site of the 3rd Company Headquarters, Pioneer Battalion, Brimob Polda Sumbar, located in the Padang Tujuh Office Complex, Nagari Aua Kuniang, Pasaman District.

Kombes Pol Joni Afrizal explained that the program had been meticulously planned and received full support from the Indonesian National Police Headquarters.

He highlighted similar initiatives across other regions, such as Dharmasraya, where 4 hectares were cultivated with corn and 1 hectare with cassava, in collaboration with the local regent.

"In addition to corn and cassava, this food security program also includes fish farming. The ultimate goal is to achieve self-sufficiency in corn and other staple foods. In the future, this initiative is expected to expand through partnerships with various stakeholders, including companies, enabling farmers, entrepreneurs, and the community to reap its benefits collectively," said Kombes Pol Joni Afrizal.

He emphasized that while the primary role of the police is law enforcement, in this context, the police are acting as pioneers, transforming idle land into productive agricultural areas.

West Pasaman Deputy Regent Risnawanto, reaffirmed that food security is a national priority, highly relevant to local implementation.

The local government, along with the West Pasaman Forkopimda, fully supports the efforts led by Brimob Polda Sumbar.

"Our main focus is ensuring food security at the regional level. Food insecurity in Indonesia must be addressed proactively. Therefore, we are deeply grateful to the police and military for their substantial contributions to this program," said Risnawanto.

He further emphasized that the program’s success relies on the collaborative efforts of all parties, including the local government, Forkopimda, police, and military.

"The vast areas of idle land in West Pasaman can be utilized to bolster food security. Through this synergy, the national program will be realized more effectively," he added.

Risnawanto also commended the police and military for initiating similar programs at police precincts throughout West Pasaman, converting idle land into productive fields for community benefit.

"According to information from the local police department, every precinct has implemented this program. Idle land has become productive thanks to their efforts," Risnawanto concluded.(kominfopsb)
