PADANG PANJANG, kiprahkita.net - The Tanjung Bridge in Ganting Subdistrict, Padang Panjang Timur, which collapsed due to a lahar flood from Mount Marapi on April 8, 2024, is now fully operational for four-wheeled vehicles.

This update was conveyed by the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and National Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) I Putu Venda, Tuesday (7/1/2025).

"The reconstruction of this bridge was actually completed a month ago. It is now accessible to both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. Cars can even pass each other as usual," said Venda.

He further mentioned that the connecting road from Guguk Malintang to Padang Panjang Regional General Hospital (RSUD) is now fully operational for four-wheeled vehicles.

Acting (Pj) Mayor Sonny Budaya Putra, also highlighted this development during a year-end press conference.

"Alhamdulillah, the community can now fully utilize this bridge as an alternative route to and from the RSUD," said Sonny.

Previously, just days after the collapse, local residents, together with the city government, the military (TNI), and police (Polri), worked together to build a temporary wooden bridge for pedestrians and motorcyclists.

The wooden bridge could only be used alternately. Now, the bridge is fully operational as before.(kominfopdp)
