Mahyeldi Inaugurates H. Marah Adin Stadium in Solok City

SOLOK, kiprahkita.net - The Governor of West Sumatra (Sumbar), Mahyeldi Ansharullah, officially inaugurated H. Marah Adin Stadium in Solok City on Sunday (January 12, 2025).

The stadium, named after a prominent figure and the great-grandfather of West Sumatra's Vice Governor Audy Joinaldy, was inaugurated with a plaque signing ceremony and a friendly football match between the Sumbar Provincial Government team and the Solok City Government team.

In his speech, Governor Mahyeldi expressed his appreciation for all parties who contributed to the construction of the stadium, especially Daswippetra Dt Manjinjiang Alam, a member of the West Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), for his significant support.

"The construction and naming of this stadium are forms of our respect for H. Marah Adin, one of the founding figures of Solok City, who also played a pivotal role in establishing the Faculty of Agriculture at Andalas University," Mahyeldi stated.

The Governor emphasized the importance of honoring past leaders as a source of inspiration for younger generations. He called for continued recognition of such figures across various regions to instill values of leadership and service in the youth.

"We hope H. Marah Adin Stadium provides broad benefits, from improving health and fitness to supporting the economy and tourism sectors. Beyond being a sports facility, this stadium can also serve as a center for other activities that bring positive impacts for the community’s welfare," Mahyeldi added.

West Sumatra Vice Governor Audy Joinaldy, a descendant of H. Marah Adin, expressed his deep gratitude and emotion over the naming of the stadium.

He reminisced about H. Marah Adin’s legacy as the Head of Agriculture for Central Sumatra and the founder and first dean of Andalas University's Faculty of Agriculture.

"I extend my thanks to Governor Mahyeldi, the Mayor, and Deputy Mayor of Solok for attending and inaugurating this stadium. Our family is committed to revitalizing agriculture in West Sumatra, following the example set by our great-grandfather, H. Marah Adin," Audy said.

Solok City Mayor Zul Elfian Umar warmly welcomed the inauguration of the stadium.

He noted that the facility, equipped with an athletic track, was a source of pride for the city and would enable more professional sports events in the future.

"In the past, our children who focused on running had to train on dirt tracks. Now, with this facility, they have a proper place to train. This marks a new chapter for Solok City, and we pray this stadium brings many blessings," he said.

The inauguration of H. Marah Adin Stadium is expected to open new opportunities for Solok City, fostering sports development and community engagement while honoring a historical figure who contributed significantly to the region.(adpsb)
